The 9 Best Snow Jackets for Less Than $250

Burton Covert Insulated Jacket – $162 to $219

Starting our list is the Burton covert insulated jacket, a men’s snow jacket that Burton says “keeps you warmer than the melted cheese in a panini press.”

The jacket’s membrane features DRYRIDE Durashell 2L fabric, which is both breathable and waterproof. DRYRIDE fabric promises breathability up to 5,000 grams per square meter and waterproofing up to 10,000 millimeters.

Stay warmer with THERMOLITE insulation across the hood and sleeves. The hollow-core fibers within the insulation have a larger surface area so moisture can easily evaporate. Those fibers will also hold onto warm air to keep you toasty.

As if that wasn’t great enough, THERMOLITE insulation is made of 40 percent recycled materials.

Living Lining has breathing pores that can shrink to hold onto warm air or grow to release heat when you’re getting too warm. The blocked embossed taffeta fabric is shiny and feels great. It’s also moisture-wicking.

You’ll have plenty of pockets for storing your essentials in this Burton jacket, including a pass pocket, a media pocket, a mid-body stash pocket with zipper, chest and cargo pockets with hook-and-loop closures, and handwarmer pockets complete with microfleece.

With taped seams for keeping snow out, a water-repellant waist gaiter, and Pit Zip mesh vents, this snow jacket has all the features you need for wintertime fun.

You can shop the Burton covert insulated jacket in sizes XXS, XS, small, medium, large, XL, XXL, and XXXL. The available colors are True Black, Kelp (tan), Folkstone Gray with Foxglove Violet, Dress Blue with Mulled Berry, Denim, and Bog Heather (gray).

Quiksilver Mission Solid Snowboard Jacket – $180

For under $200, the Quicksilver Mission solid snowboard jacket feels like a steal. This snow jacket combines warmth and functionality with timeless looks.

Made of recycled Repreve polyester (43 percent) and polyester plain weave (57 percent), the Quicksilver jacket promises 5,000 grams of fabric breathability and 10,000 millimeters of fabric waterproofing. In other words, it’s just as breathable and waterproof as the Burton covert insulated jacket, but not quite as expensive.

Warmflight Eco sleeve insulation will prevent your digits from going numb while underarm venting keeps this jacket breathable even as you roll up the largest snowball for your snowman’s base. The cuffs are adjustable, and the wrist gaiters have thumbholes and plenty of stretch.

Need pockets? This Quiksilver jacket has ‘em. You can use an inside media pocket, a pass pocket, and hand-warming pockets with a key clip.

We also like the jacket-to-pant attachment system and the snap-away powder skirt system, both of which are designed to keep you drier from snow.

The hood has three different adjustment options so you can wear it your way. Quiksilver used body mapping to strategically select which parts of this jacket utilize its taffeta and tricot liner.

The Quiksilver Mission solid snowboard jacket is available in sizes small through large and in two colors, Heather Gray or True Black.

Burton Women’s Saxton Parka – $200 to $250

Here’s another steal, the Burton women’s Saxton parka.

This sporty yet appealing women’s snow jacket has a dual-layered fabric shell to resist wetness from snow and ice. The 650-fill down insulation, which is ethically sourced, will allow you to spend more time outside in the winter without turning into an icicle.

Living Lining active wicking is back in this jacket so you never have to worry about heat buildup as you make snow angels or throw snowballs behind the safety of your snow fort.

The faux fur trim around the hood comes off if it’s getting in your face, or you can leave it on and enjoy the extra warmth and protection.

The handwarmer pockets are lined with microfleece. You’ll also find a media pocket with a zipper for stashing your smartphone.

Adjust the hood and the exterior waist so this jacket fits your body shape and size. The critically tapered seams will prevent snow from coming in under your jacket.

The Burton women’s Saxton parka is available in sizes XS through XL. The XS is for women’s sizes 0 through 2 with 35 to 36-inch hips, a 25 to 26-inch natural waist, and a 32 to 33-inch chest. The XL is for a women’s size 18 with 46.5 to 48.5-inch hips, a 36.5 to 38.5-inch natural waist, and a 43.5 to 45.5-inch chest.

Your color options are True Black, Mulled Berry, and White.

Volcom Bolt Insulated Jacket – $125

Here’s another pick for the ladies, the Volcom Bolt insulated jacket

Its V-Science dual-layered membrane promises 10,000 grams per square meter of breathability and 10,000 millimeters of waterproofing. That makes the Bolt the most breathable jacket on this list so far.

The V-Science Supreme Twill face fabric is built tough to withstand the elements. Inside the jacket is Low Loft Polyfill insulation, up to 60 grams in the sleeves and 80 grams in the body of this jacket.

With EQS Fit, the contouring and streamlining of this snow jacket are designed for “accentuating the female form,” says Volcom. Inside the coat is a smooth taffeta lining that won’t rub against your underlayers.

The Zip Tech jacket-to-pant interface is a patented feature that prevents snow from getting in between your pants and your jacket if both are from Volcom.

There are yet more great features of this Volcom snow jacket, including adjustable cinch cuffs, a specialty ticket ring for conveniently toting your ski ticket, a shiftable powder skirt, a super suede chin guard, and a hidden togglable cinch hood.

The Volcom Bolt is available in sizes XS through XL. You can pick between colors like Stone (white with a black arrow pattern), Mint (mint green with black accents), Faded Pink (baby pink with magenta accents), and Acid Black (acid wash gray with black accents), and more.

Stio Kids’ Hometown Down Hooded Jacket – $170

How about something for the kids? They’re probably the ones playing outside the longest in the snow, after all. The Stio kids’ Hometown jacket will keep your kids from complaining about being too cold.

It’s made of 100-percent recycled HTD nylon ripstop on the exterior. Inside, this cute snow jacket is filled with ALLIED Feather down. Not only is the down sustainable for our planet, but it’s water-repellant as well.

Stio even adds a Stio Kids ID label so that your child’s jacket never gets confused with someone else’s in the classroom.

Internal stash pockets and handwarmer pockets with YKK zippers give your kids room to store their odds and ends they don’t leave home without.

The draft flap features a grosgrain finish and has zippers for protecting your kids from the elements. The fixed hood has elastic binding for pulling it tighter. Mid-sized baffles with down feathers will also help your kids maintain a warm body temperature.

The Stio kids’ Hometown snow jacket comes in one color, Larkspur Blue. You can shop in sizes 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 14.

Amazon Essentials Women’s Insulated Snow Jacket – $61

Are you on an extremely tight budget but still want a snow jacket? No problem! This Amazon Essentials snow jacket is available for under $100, so buy one for yourself and for your daughter too!

The coat features a front zipper with two-way technology, interior pockets with mesh, and an interior chest pocket that zippers. The sleeves have a lift pass pocket for your lift tickets.

Interior sleeve cuffs will keep your wrists and hands drier, as water won’t be able to easily seep in. The jacket itself is insulated and water-resistant.

We do want to mention that water resistance and waterproofing are not the same things.

This jacket, being water-resistant, will have a coating that repels water, but only for as long as that coating is present. If it wears away from time, use, or too many machine washes, then it won’t keep you dry. But hey, for under $100, water resistance is certainly better than nothing!

The Amazon Essentials women’s snow jacket is available in sizes XS through XL. You can buy it in all black or red/black/white combo.

Roxy Women’s Jetty Block Jacket – $155 to $220

The Roxy women’s Jetty block jacket will be sure to turn some heads wherever you wear it, whether you’re shoveling snow on your street or you’re at the park sledding.

Featuring 10K Roxy DryFlight technology, the jacket has moisture management up to 5,000 grams per square meter for 24 hours as well as water resistance up to 10,000 millimeters.

Roxy WarmFlight Eco insulation is spread out across the hood (60 grams), the sleeves (100 grams), and the body (120 grams). The insulation includes high-loft synthetic yarn that doesn’t weigh much so it stays breathable while keeping you warmer.

The liner is an embossed polyester taffeta and brushed tricot mix. Throughout the snow jacket are plenty of pockets, such as internal media pockets, a sleeve pass pocket, handwarmer pockets, and a chest pocket.

This sleek coat also features meshed underarm venting, a key clip, a chin guard, a gusset cuff, stretchy internal wrist gaiters, Roxy’s jacket-to-pant attachment system and snap-away powder skirt system, a taffeta powder skirt, and critically tapered sleeves. The fixed hood is adjustable three ways too!

Your size options for the Roxy women’s Jetty block jacket are XS through XL. Comes in gray violet marble and true black with black flowers.

Armada Baxter Insulated Jacket – $170

For the men, the Armada Baxter insulated jacket is a solid option to consider.

Its membrane is 10K breathable and 10K waterproof for superior comfort. The face fabric is made of 100 percent polyester plain weave.

The insulation is 90-percent recycled Polyfill, with 60 grams in the sleeves and hood and another 80 grams in the body.

Keep your essentials close at hand with a pass pocket, a handwarmer pocket with microfleece lining, and even an external access music pocket with its own headphone port. Yes, now it’s easier than ever to listen to your tunes on the go when sledding or snowmobiling.

Taffeta lining won’t create friction against your other layers. The adjustable cuffs and elastic hem keep the fit of this jacket close to your body.

The Armada Baxter insulated jacket is available in sizes medium through XXL. It comes in three colors. Whitewater is white with gray and black patterning. You can also pick from Steel (white-gray) or black.

Burton Keelan Women’s Insulated Snowboard Jacket – $150

The last snow jacket on our list is the Burton Keelan women’s snow jacket

Depending on your size or style, this mid-priced jacket could be a full $100 cheaper than your budget. With the money you save, you can afford a nicer lodge for the family ski trip.

DRYRIDE technology, a Burton staple, provides 10K breathability and 10K waterproofing. Thermacore synthetic down insulation will let you spend hours on the ski trail without feeling cold.

The Living Lining is again strategically mapped so it will keep you warmer in the areas that need it. When you begin to feel too warm, the lining can release body heat.

The Fulltime Contour hood covers so much of your noggin that it’s practically a helmet. You can adjust how tightly the hood fits with a drawcord cinch.

There are plenty more features yet. You again have the stretchy wrist gaiters (complete with thumbholes), a water-repellant ergonomic waist gaiter, tapered seams, and pockets galore. These include a sleeve pass pocket, handwarmer pockets with microfleece, and a Therma Pocket that prevents your phone from turning off in the frigid cold.

The Burton Keelan women’s snow jacket is available in sizes small, medium, and large. It comes in over 10 colors and patterns!
