Best Heated Apparel for the Outdoors

Staying warm outdoors in freezing temperatures can be quite a challenge. I used to wear layer upon layer, but that only provided warmth for so long until I was cold to my core. Then I would be forced to go indoors to escape the winter weather. Not only that, but all those layers left me feeling confined and often claustrophobic. There had to be a better solution.

And then I found it!

Venustas heated apparel allows me to stay warm hour after hour without feeling suffocated by multiple layers of clothing. They offer a wide selection of heated battery-operated jackets and vests for both men and women.

Let’s take a closer look at what this amazing company offers and why I recommend everyone owning their own heated outwear.

When my jacket first arrived, I expected it to be fairly heavy, at least heavier than my other big coats. It weighed about 2 pounds for my particular style and size. I was pleasantly surprised when it felt no different than my previous jackets.

I’m sure the weight will vary from jacket to jacket due to size differences, type of battery, number of heating pads, and material.

I loved the material of the inside and out; very soft and comfortable. It was easy to move around it, and I didn’t feel restricted in the slightest.

How Does the Heating Element Work?

When I first wore my heated zipper fleece jacket, I didn’t notice the heated elements. This was great since I didn’t want to feel as if I was wearing a heating blanket draped over me. Only portions of the jacket contain the heating panels.

These panels are nicely sewn into the fabric and cannot be seen. A small battery pack powers them to provide heat throughout all the panels. The battery pack is conveniently stored in an inside zipper pocket of the jacket, so no cords are showing or getting in your way.

The heating elements are typically made of carbon fiber and strategically placed throughout. After putting on the jacket and pressing the heat button on the outside of the coat, I felt warmth within a minute, and it continued to get warmer. I love how there are different heating options available. My wife likes to have hers on high, while I prefer a low setting.

How Long Does the Jacket/Vest Stay Warm For?

Before using your jacket, always start with a full charge. I made the mistake before of not charging it the night before. The following day, I was very disappointed when I realized I was almost out of battery. Let’s just say I had a frigid and unpleasant day.

NOTE: It took my battery almost 6 hours to fully charge after being dead. You know it’s done charging when the battery reads “100.” This number changes as you use power, so you always know how much battery you have left.

The number of hours you’ll get on a fully charged battery will vary depending on what type of jacket you have and what setting it is set to. The jacket I own is a 7.4V. When I keep it on my preferred low setting, it will stay heated for a good 8 to 9 hours.

Below, I’ve included a table showing how other jackets and settings compare.

What are the Different Setting?

Changing the heat setting on the jacket is simple and fast. I love how you don’t have to go inside the zipper pocket to the battery pack and change it there. To choose a heat setting, all you need to do is press the on/off button on the outside of the jacket and press it for one second. This will change from low, medium, and high settings.

When the coat is at room temperature, the heat settings are as follows…

  • Low –> 95 degrees F
  • Med. –> 113 degrees F
  • High –> 120 degrees F

It’s safe to say it will definitely keep you warm and toasty on those cold or snowy days.

Other Heated Items Venustas Offers

I was extremely excited to learn that jackets and vests weren’t all Venustas has to offer. Once you have your heated jacket keeping you warm, what about your hands? No worries, they got you covered.

Venustas sells heated gloves for men and women. They come in black and offer the same long-lasting hours of heat as your jacket. No more feeling like your fingers are going to break off from the freezing cold.

I don’t want to forget to mention their heated thermal underwear shirt and pants.

Presentation

One last item I want to mention is their presentation. When I received my package in the mail, I was very impressed with how it came. The jacket, battery pack, and instructions were all neatly folded in a nice black waterproof travel case. It’s perfect for storing and bringing with me on all my hunting trips.
