Average Cost of Jet Ski Rentals (By the Hour, or By the Day)

If you are interested in riding a jet ski but you do not have the funds to get your own or just don’t think you would use it enough to warrant the purchase, then renting one is a great option. There are lots of companies at lakes and at the beach that provide the opportunity to ride for anywhere from an hour to a whole day.

But of course, a company needs to make money, so the ride will not be free. But how much should you expect to pay? Fifty bucks? One hundred? The price will depend on a few things. From what I have seen, the main factor is the location.

Based on the information I gathered for this article, the average cost for jet ski rentals across the country for one hour is about $86, and for a full day, it’s about $375.

I’ll break down the information below so that you can have more details. Now, I won’t be looking at every area in every state, but for the most part, different companies in the same geographic area tend to have similar prices, so that is a good way to look at the average cost.

West Coast

California

California makes up most of the West Coast, so you will be able to find a lot of different rental companies just about everywhere you go. The Golden State hosts some of the most well-known beaches in the country as well as some gorgeous lakes.

Starting on the coast, San Diego is a popular tourist destination. The San Diego Bay is a great area to take a jet ski out on for an hour or for a day. We can take a look at how much riding here will run you.

Luxury Jet Ski Rentals rents their jet skis starting at $65 an hour, but depending on the day and time it can range up to $75 an hour. That’s a pretty good start! If one hour is not enough time for you, they also offer all-day rentals. The range for this type of ride is from about $195 to $220 for six hours.

H2O Jet Ski Rentals is another nearby company. Their hourly rate for jet ski rentals starts at about $85 to $90 an hour, but the longer you rent, the less the per hour price will be. They also offer an all-day option, which costs between $500 and $525 for eight hours of riding.

San Diego Bay Adventures offers slightly different riding times. Instead of starting at one hour, they start at 75-minute blocks. The price for 75 minutes of riding ranges from $85-$95, so when we adjust that to one hour it comes out to be about $70 to $75. There is no all-day option here.

The San Francisco Bay is another beautiful area to get on the water. Luu Motorsport offers all all-day rentals of its jet ski fleet. Their prices range from $350 to $450 for eight hours.

Moving just a little inland, Lake Berryessa is located northeast of San Francisco. Lake Berryessa Boat and Jet Ski Rentals offer prices starting at around $105 to $115 per hour.

Further away from the coast still we find Lake Tahoe. This large lake has plenty of space to explore at high speeds. Action Watersports at Timber Cove Marina offers jet ski rentals starting from about $135 to $140 per hour.

Up on the north side of the lake, North Tahoe Watersports offers jet ski rentals for the same hourly price between $135 and $140.

While there are many more places to ride and rent jet skis in California, these give us a good idea of what the average to expect is. The hourly average is right around $100, and the daily average is about $400.

Oregon

Oregon is also known for its natural beauty. There is abundant coast as well as lakes and rivers.

X-Treme Rentals in Portland offers jet ski rentals for $85 to $95 per hour. They also have an all-day option with a price tag of $300 to $315.

PDX Watersports, also located in Portland, offers all-day rentals from $295 to $305.

SK Watercraft Rentals of Portland offers hourly rates from $80 to $90, and full-day rates from $295 to $325.

Leaving the City and heading southeast, Cove Corner Store & Affordable Boat Rentals on the Crooked River has jet ski rentals available from $235 to $255 for full, eight hour days.

Based on these numbers, the average hourly rate in Oregon is around $87, and the average for a daily rental is about $310.

West Coast Average

Using these numbers, we can determine that the average hourly rate for jet ski rentals on the West Coast is about $94, and the average daily rate is about $350.

East Coast

Lots of people say “The West Coast is the best coast,” but in my opinion, the East Coast definitely gives it a run for its money. While the beauty of the coasts is a matter of opinion, when it comes to prices there are only facts. Let’s see how the east compares.

North Carolina

North Carolina’s beaches are popular destinations throughout much of the year, and there is no shortage of jet ski rentals available.

Wilmington is a coastal city in southern North Carolina. It attracts many visitors each year and is home to various rental companies. Carolina Beach Jet Ski Rentals in Wilmington offers hourly rates ranging from $70 to $80. There is no all-day option.

Wilmington Jet Ski Rentals has hourly rates between $75 and $85. They do not offer full-day rentals, but they do have half-day rentals. The price for this option is between $275 and $285.

Moving north along the coast, the aptly named Surf City is a coastal town with some rental companies to check out.

Surf City Jet Ski Rentals has slightly higher prices. The rates for an hour of riding go from $80 to $90. There are no full-day rentals here.

Further north is Nags Head. This is an area on the barrier islands along the coast.

Kitty Hawk Watersports offers hourly rates from $90 to $100.

Sunset Watersports has hourly rates between $95 and $105.

Finally, Nor’Banks Sailing & Watersports has probably the highest prices in the area. Their hourly rate is between $105 and $115.

From this information, the average hourly rate of North Carolina is about $90. Most Rental companies do not offer full-day rentals.

South Carolina

South Carolina is home to Myrtle Beach, one of the East Coast’s most popular destinations. There is lots of fun to be had on the water in this state.

Myrtle Beach Watersports offers a variety of activities, most of which are jet ski related. The prices for an hour of riding do vary greatly depending on the time and day of the ride. They can range anywhere from $80 to $150. The most expensive rides are on the weekends during the afternoon, so to save money, stick to the weekdays and in the morning.

At Hydrofly North Myrtle Beach Watersports, the price for one hour rides ranges from $109 to $129.

With Shoreline Water Sports, you will pay from $75 to $80 for half an hour of riding, so it is on the more expensive side.

In South Carolina, the average hourly rental cost for jet skis is somewhere between $115 and $120.

Georgia

Georgia has ample coastline as well as bodies of water inland which are great spots for recreation.

At Tybee Jet Ski & Kayak on Tybee Island, prices for one-hour rentals range from $99 to $125.

Close by, Old Tybee Road Jet Ski Rentals has hourly prices ranging from $89 to $120.

Further north on Clarks Hill Lake, Keg Creek Watersports offers some good deals. For the first hour of riding, the price ranges from $80 to $85. For each additional hour after that, it is only $60. They have an all-day option available, which is between $395 and $405.

If we head west, we will eventually come to the lovely Lake Oconee. On this lake, Oconee Wild Watersports has an hourly jet ski rental rate of around $75. They also have an all-day option, but it is a little unique.

Most of the time when we look at all-day rentals, that means eight hours. At Oconee Wild Watersports, all day means 24 hours. For between $590 and $605, you can rent a jet ski for a whole day. Riding after dark is not permitted, but there will be plenty of light in that period to have all the fund you need.

Based on these figures, the average price for an hour of renting in Georgia is a little over $90. For daily rentals, the price is around $500.

East Coast Average

The average hourly price for the whole East Coast is close to $105, and the average daily price is about $500.

Midwest

When thinking about the Midwest, watersports might not be the first thing that comes to most people’s minds. These states might be a few hundred miles from the nearest ocean, but there are countless lakes in this region. We can take a look at some of these areas and the prices that they offer on jet ski rentals.

Missouri

Missouri is a fairly large state with outdoor areas known for gorgeous rivers and lakes, the most well-known being the Ozarks area. That is a good place to start looking at jet ski rental prices.

Aqua Toy Rentals has hourly rental prices that range from just $50 to $60. For a four hour rental, the price is only $180. That averages out to just $45 an hour. What a deal!

WFO has similar prices. Their hourly rates are between $55 and $65, and for a full, eight hour rental the prices are between $275 and $295.

Dirty Duck Boat Rentals has prices that are identical to Aqua Toy Rentals. The hourly rates are from $50 to $60, and a four-hour rental is $180.

The Getaway Boat and Jet Ski Rentals has similar hourly pricing but offers better deals on extended rentals. For an hour of riding it will cost between $50 and $60. For four hours of riding the price is between $160 and $170. And for a full, eight hours of riding it will cost just under $300.

Going down south to the Branson area, there are just as many opportunities to rent as at the Lake of the Ozarks.

For all of Missouri, the average price for hourly jet ski rentals is about $57. The price for a full day of renting averages about $320.

Oklahoma

Oklahoma is no doubt most well-known for tornadoes and cowboys. But you might be surprised to hear that Oklahoma has hundreds of lakes, and many of them are quite large. Watersports are very popular in this state.

At the Crosstimbers Marina, located on Skiatook Lake, jet ski rentals are available starting between $115 and $120 per hour.

Down in southern Oklahoma on Broken Bow Lake is the Beavers Bend Marina. Beavers Bend Marina offers jet ski rentals from $80 to $90 per hour.

West of Broken Bow Lake and right on the border with Texas lies Lake Texoma. At Texoma Jet Ski Rental, renting starts at two hours instead of one. The price for a two-hour rental is between $130 and $140. For a full day of renting, the price is between $345 and $355.

The Midwest Average

Next, our search leads us to the Northwest region of the United States. The Northwest is without a doubt most well-known for its abundance of outdoor activities. There are lots of amazing lakes that are perfect for a day of jet skiing.

Idaho

Idaho is known throughout the world for its potatoes, but it also has some incredible lakes that are definitely worth a visit or two.

At A Day On The Lake Boat Rentals on Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho, you can rent a jet ski for two hours for between $136 and $141, which translates to about $$68 to $70 an hour.

Heading a little south now to Coeur d’Alene, we find Hayden Lake Paddle Board & Jet Ski Rentals. Here you can find rentals for a slightly better price than at Lake Pend Oreille. Rates start between $127 and $132 for two hours, and for a full eight hours, the price is between $265 and $275.

Also in Coeur d’Alene, Just Add Water Sports offers rentals for two hours for the same price as at Hayden Lake Paddle Board & Jet Ski Rentals, and eight-hour options for just a little more, between $315 and $325.

Montana is one of the biggest and most beautiful states, and it has some of the best lakes, in my opinion of course.

At OId Faithful Watersports on the north side of Flathead Lake, you can rent a jet ski for between $145 and $155 for two hours, or for a full day for between $295 and $305.

Across the lake from Old Faithful Watersports, Wild Wave Watercraft & Boat Rentals offers full day rentals for between $295 and $325.
